Create the question categories

A tomato delivery is graded on the defects found in the samples, and those defects are not equally serious: a soft or split tomato is a major defect, while slight discoloration is a minor one. Two categories, one for each severity, let the score evaluate all major-defect questions together and all minor-defect questions together, instead of judging each question on its own.

Categories are global — they are not tied to a plan, so the two you create here can be reused by every plan you build later. Create them now, before the questions, so that a category can be assigned as each question is created.

To create the categories:

  1. Select the Search icon , enter Quality Control Question Category, and then choose the related link.
  2. On the action bar, select New.
  3. Fill in the Category and Description fields.
  4. Repeat for the second category.

Create the following two categories.

CategoryDescription
MAJORMajor Defect
MINORMinor Defect

Nothing else is configured on a category. A category is only a grouping: it records which severity each defect question belongs to, so the two groups stay distinct and can be evaluated or reported together rather than question by question.
