Create quality control checks

A quality control check is the record a user completes during an inspection. Checks can be created in five ways, depending on whether creation should happen automatically or on demand.

The following table lists each creation method and when to use it.

MethodWhen to use
Create checks from triggersA check should fire automatically when a document event occurs — for example, posting a purchase receipt, releasing a sales order, or starting a production order.
Create follow-up checks after a failed checkA failed check should automatically generate a new check, typically with a different plan or team.
Create recurring checksA check should be created at a fixed interval — for example, a daily hygiene check or hourly equipment inspection — regardless of document activity.
Create ad-hoc checksA user needs to create a check on demand from the Quality Control Checks list, a source document, or a lot card.
Copy a quality control checkAn existing posted check should be replicated as a new open check — for example, to repeat an inspection without reconfiguring the plan and team.

Before you can create checks, the supporting plans, teams, and (where applicable) triggers must be configured. For more information, see Setup.
