Create the Brix lot attribute
The sugar reading taken at intake is worth keeping on the lot itself, not only inside the posted check. Held as a lot attribute, the Brix value travels with the stock and can be seen and filtered on wherever the lot appears. Later in this walkthrough, one of the intake questions is a Lot Attribute question pointed at Brix, so that answering it during the inspection writes the value to the received lot when the check is posted.
This step requires the Aptean Advanced Attributes extension. Skip it if that extension is not installed — the rest of the workflow still runs, and the Brix reading is then held only on the quality control check.
Define the attribute
- Select the Search icon
, enter Lot Attributes, and then choose the related link. - Select New. The Lot Attribute card page opens.
- In the Name field, enter Brix.
- In the Type field, select Decimal.
Leave the remaining fields as they are. Two of them are worth knowing about, because they become available once the type is Decimal:
- Unit of Measure — the unit the value is expressed in. Fill this in if you want the degree symbol or Bx shown alongside the value on the lot.
- Min. Value and Max. Value — a permitted range for the attribute value itself. This is not the intake specification. The readings that decide whether a delivery passes are judged by the targets on the quality control plan.
For more information, see Set up lot attributes in the Aptean Advanced Attributes documentation.
Add the attribute to the tomato item's template
The lot attribute template on an item determines which attributes are populated each time a lot of that item is created. Adding Brix to the template means every lot of tomatoes carries a Brix value that the intake inspection can fill in.
- Select the Search icon
, enter Items, and then choose the related link. - Select the No. field of the tomato item to open the Item Card page.
- On the action bar, select Item > Lot Attributes Template. The Lot Attribute Template page opens.
- On a new line, select Brix in the Attribute field.
- Leave Fixed Value and Allowed Values blank, so that the value comes from the intake inspection rather than being preset for the item.
For more information, see Set up lot attribute templates for item lots in the Aptean Advanced Attributes documentation, and Aptean Advanced Attributes for how the two extensions work together.
