Create the inspection statuses
This step is optional and requires the Aptean Inspection Status extension. Skip it if that extension is not installed — the inspection will still run and grade the delivery, but the outcome will not travel with the lot.
A score records how the inspection went. An inspection status decides what the warehouse is then allowed to do with the stock. Giving each grade its own status is what turns the inspection result into a control on the lot: accepted tomatoes can be used freely, rejected ones cannot be sold or consumed, and a delivery held for rework can be processed but not shipped.
Create three statuses:
| Code | Description | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| QC PASS | Passed quality control | The lot is free to use anywhere. |
| QC FAIL | Failed quality control | The lot is blocked from every outbound and consuming transaction. |
| REWORK | Held for rework | The lot cannot be sold or transferred, but can still be consumed in production so it can be sorted or reprocessed. |
To create each status:
- Select the Search icon
, enter Inspection Status List, and then choose the related link. - On the action bar, select New. The Inspection Status card opens.
- In the Code field, enter the code, and in the Description field, enter the description.
- On the Lines FastTab, select the Blocked checkbox for each transaction type this status should prevent.
- Repeat for the remaining statuses.
The lines are created for you as soon as the status is saved — one line for each transaction type that can be blocked, all unblocked to begin with. There are ten: sales pick and availability, production consumption pick and availability, transfer pick and availability, internal movement pick and availability, and assembly consumption pick and availability.
Set the Blocked checkboxes as follows.
| Status | Blocked lines |
|---|---|
| QC PASS | None — leave every line unblocked |
| QC FAIL | All ten |
| REWORK | Sales and transfer lines, both pick and availability. Leave the production consumption and assembly consumption lines unblocked. |
Leave Inspection Hold, Priority, and Permission Role ID at their defaults. Priority defaults to 1, and Permission Role ID restricts who is allowed to move a lot into the status — useful once the process is live, but not needed to run this walkthrough.
Once the statuses exist, they can be applied to the lot from two places, and you can use either or both:
- On the plan — the Inspection Status on Create, Inspection Status on Pass, and Inspection Status on Fail fields on the Blocking FastTab of the plan set the lot's status from the check result alone.
- On the score — each plan score can name its own inspection status, so the grade decides the status. This is the finer-grained option, and the one that makes REWORK reachable: an amber grade passes the check, so a pass-or-fail rule alone could never produce it.
Either way, the status change is stamped on the lot with the reason code assigned in Configure quality control setup.
