Quality control action plan
A quality control action plan defines the steps and questions that must be completed when a quality action is created. Action plans are assigned to quality plan lines and are triggered when a quality check result fails. They guide users through the corrective response process.
To open the list, select the Search icon
, enter Quality Control Action Plans, and choose the related link. Select New to create a new action plan, or select an existing record to open it — both open the Quality Control Action Plan card.

Lines FastTab
Each line defines a step in the action plan. Lines become editable after the Code field is saved. Lines are displayed in ascending sequence order.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Sequence | Specifies the order in which the line appears. |
| Description | Specifies the text of the question or task. |
| Action Type | Specifies whether the line is a Question (requires a yes/no answer) or a Task (requires completion). |
| Depends on Sequence | Specifies the sequence number of a Question-type line that controls whether this line is shown. The referenced line must have a lower sequence number than the current line. |
| Required Answer | Specifies whether the referenced question must be answered Yes or No for this line to appear. Required when Depends on Sequence is set. |
| Due Date Calculation | Specifies a date formula used to calculate the due date for this line when the action is created. |
| Additional Instructions | Specifies a short note or instruction for the user completing this line. |
| Extended | Indicates whether extended instructions have been added to this line. Read-only. |
Conditional lines
Lines can be made conditional using the Depends on Sequence and Required Answer fields. When a user answers a question during the action plan, the system shows or hides dependent lines based on the answer. If a user changes their answer and the condition is no longer met, the dependent line is hidden and any entered values are cleared. Hidden lines are not required for posting.
Only Question-type lines can be referenced by Depends on Sequence. A line cannot be deleted or have its sequence changed if other lines depend on it.
For example, the following lines configure a Yes/No branch off sequence 10:
| Sequence | Description | Action Type | Depends on Sequence | Required Answer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Is the raw material inspected? | Question | ||
| 20 | Approve the batch for dispatch | Task | 10 | Yes |
| 30 | Hold batch for re-inspection | Task | 10 | No |
| 40 | Request maintenance check | Question | 10 | No |
If sequence 10 is answered Yes, only line 20 appears. If sequence 10 is answered No, lines 30 and 40 appear.
Extended instructions
To add detailed guidance to a line, select the line and choose the Extended Instructions action. This opens a page where you can enter multi-line instructions that are displayed to users in the Quality Control App when completing that step. The Extended checkbox on the line is automatically selected when instructions are saved.
An action plan cannot be deleted while it is referenced by quality plan lines or quality actions.
