Migration from Aptean Quality Control (Power App)
If you are transitioning from the Aptean Quality Control (Power App) extension, you can migrate your existing data to Aptean Quality Control for Food and Beverage (BC) using the Migration Data Setup Wizard. The wizard runs once and migrates your configuration, plans, checks, and results automatically.
Prerequisites
The following extensions must be installed before the wizard can be opened:
- Aptean Quality Control (Power App) — the source extension containing the data to migrate
- Aptean Shop Floor Production for Food and Beverage — required by the migration process
If either extension is not installed, the wizard does not open.
What gets migrated
The wizard migrates the following data automatically.
Setup
The quality check number series is carried over from the Power App setup. You assign the posted quality check number series during the wizard (Step 2). The item, customer, and vendor attribute links from the Power App setup are also migrated.
Users
QCL users are matched to Business Central users by email address. A user record is created in Quality Control User Setup for each user whose email matches a BC user account. Users with no matching BC account are skipped and recorded in the migration log.
Teams
All quality control teams are migrated with their descriptions. New codes are assigned automatically (QCTEAM1, QCTEAM2, and so on) — the original QCL team identifiers are not preserved.
Units of measure
All quality control units of measure are migrated with their descriptions. New codes are assigned automatically (QCUOM1, QCUOM2, and so on).
Equipment
All quality control equipment records are migrated with their descriptions. New codes are assigned automatically (QCEQUIP1, QCEQUIP2, and so on).
Options and option values
All option lists and their values are migrated. New codes are assigned automatically (QCOPT1, QCOPT2, and so on). Option sequence numbers are assigned in the order values appear in the source.
Questions
All quality control questions are migrated with their descriptions, question types, and equipment links. New codes are assigned automatically (QCQUES1, QCQUES2, and so on). Question types are mapped as follows:
| Power App type | BC type |
|---|---|
| Text | Text |
| Decimal | Decimal |
| Option | Option |
| Date | DateTime |
The Integer question type does not exist in the Power App — it is new in the BC extension.
Triggers
All triggers are migrated including document type, document action, location, item filter, source filter, plan assignment, recurring schedule, and inspection status. Statuses and source types are mapped to their BC equivalents. The plan code on each trigger is updated to point to the migrated plan record.
Quality control plans
Plan headers are migrated with their descriptions, versions, effective dates, and statuses. Statuses are mapped as follows:
| Power App status | BC status |
|---|---|
| Open (or blank) | New |
| Certified | Certified |
| Closed | Inactive |
New codes are assigned automatically (QCPLAN1, QCPLAN2, and so on).
Plan lines are migrated with their sequences, questions, units of measure, mandatory flags, and failure action plan links. Line targets are migrated for Decimal and Option questions. Target values of exactly 0 are treated as not set and are not migrated.
Readings defaults to 1 and Frequency Type defaults to Per Test on all migrated plan lines. To change these values, open the relevant plan on the Quality Control Plans page after migration.
Action plans
Action plan headers are migrated with their descriptions. New codes are assigned automatically (QCACTPLAN1, QCACTPLAN2, and so on). Action plan lines are not migrated. You must add questions and tasks to each action plan manually after migration.
Quality checks
Open and in-progress quality checks are migrated with their lot numbers, document references, item information, source information, location, team, plan, completion dates, and results. Check line answers, results, and target values are migrated for all question types.
Closed quality checks are migrated as posted quality checks using the configured posted quality check number series.
What is not migrated
The following data cannot be migrated automatically and must be configured manually after migration:
- Action plan lines (questions and tasks)
- Photos and file attachments on check lines
- Team assignments on users and triggers
Opening the wizard
To open the wizard:
- Select the Search icon
, enter Assisted Setup, and choose the related link. On the Assisted Setup page, select Migrate Quality Control CDS Data. - Alternatively, choose the notification displayed on the Role Center.
Start the wizard
The first step introduces the wizard. The guide can only be run once.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Skip Migration | Select to complete the wizard without migrating any data. All master data must then be configured manually. Selecting this checkbox requires confirmation — see note below. |
Selecting Skip Migration is permanent. Once confirmed, the automatic migration option is no longer available. Your existing Power App (QCL) data remains accessible for export or reference, but cannot be migrated through this wizard.
Select Next to continue.
Configure the number series
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Posted Quality Check Nos. | Specifies the number series used to assign numbers to posted quality checks. Required before you can proceed. |
Select Next to continue.
Run the migration
The final step displays a summary of post-migration tasks. Select Finish to run the migration and complete the assisted setup.
Post-migration tasks
After the wizard completes, the following configuration is required:
-
Open the Quality Control User Setup page and set each user who needs full access as a QC Manager. QC Managers can edit team members and view all quality control checks.
-
Open the Quality Control Team Members page and assign teams to users.
-
Open the Quality Control Triggers page and assign a team to each trigger.
-
Review your migrated quality control plans. Readings defaults to 1 and Frequency Type defaults to Per Test on all migrated plan lines. Open the relevant plan on the Quality Control Plans page to change these values.
-
Open each action plan on the Quality Control Action Plan page and add the required questions and tasks. Action plans are migrated as headers only.
