Features

With the features added in this release of the Aptean Quality Control (BC) extension,

  • Quality control checks can be scheduled for inventory held at rest through the new Inventory option on the Document Type field of the QC Triggers page. An inventory trigger schedules periodic inspections based on how long an item has been held at a location or bin, independent of any purchase, sales, or production document, which supports recurring obligations such as cold-chain temperature verification, allergen testing, and shelf-life aging checks. A job queue evaluates active inventory triggers on a configurable schedule, scans item ledger entries at location level and warehouse entries at bin level, and creates a check when the elapsed time since receipt or the last posted check meets the recurring interval. The Per Lot field is set automatically and becomes read-only for inventory triggers, an optional Bin Code field restricts evaluation to a single bin, and a Schedule Inventory Quality Checks action on the Quality Control Setup page creates the required job queue entry.   • Quality control checks created from warehouse receipts and shipments retain a link to the originating order. The Order Document Type and Order No. fields on the QC Check Card and Posted QC Check Card pages capture the purchase order, sales order, transfer order, or return order at the moment the check is created, so order-based traceability is preserved even after Business Central deletes the warehouse document on posting. The Related Documents action on the QC Check Card and Posted QC Check Card pages opens a combined list of all open and posted quality control checks that share the same order, and a Quality Control Checks action on the Posted Purchase Invoice and Posted Sales Invoice pages links each invoice to the checks associated with its originating order.   • You can create a non-conformance directly from a posted quality control check by using the Create Customer Non Conformance Document, Create Vendor Non Conformance Document, and Create Internal Non Conformance Document actions on the Posted Quality Control Check page. The new non-conformance is linked to the originating posted quality control check, so it is listed by the corresponding Show Non Conformance Documents actions on the same page, and the non-conformance can return to the check through its Open Posted Quality Control Check action. These actions are available only when the Aptean Non Conformances extension is installed. For more information, see Integration with non-conformance.

Enhancements/Modifications

With this release of the Aptean Quality Control (BC) extension,

  • Quality control checks can be created directly from the Quality Control App without leaving the app. A + button in the app header opens a modal where you select a QC team (pre-populated from the default team configured on the Quality Control Setup page if one is set) and a certified quality control plan. Optional fields for source type, source number, work center, location, item, and lot number let the check be linked to a source entity at creation time. After the check is created, the app offers direct navigation to the new check's detail view. For more information, see Create ad-hoc quality control check.

  • The Posted Quality Control Check report dataset has been extended to expose up to 20 photo columns per question line (Image1–Image20), up from 5. The default report layout is unchanged and continues to display up to 5 photos; customers can customize the layout to reference Image6–Image20 when more are needed. A new Option Comment column has been added to the dataset so that question-level option comments can be included in the report output. Photos stored in Azure Blob Storage are now retrieved at print time and rendered in the report alongside photos stored in Business Central; if a blob photo cannot be retrieved, the affected image slot is left blank and the report continues to render normally.   • Additional test readings and ad-hoc questions can be added to a quality control check during execution. The Add Reading action on the Lines FastTab duplicates the selected question line so that a repeated measurement can be recorded without modifying the quality control plan, and the Add Question action inserts a question from the library with target values, thresholds, and configuration inherited automatically from the plan line. Both actions are available in Business Central and from the three-dot menu in the Quality Control App. Both actions are disabled for calculated formula questions and on posted checks. The restriction that prevented the Per Sample frequency type from being used when the Required Samples field is set to 1 has also been removed. For more information, see Manage quality check lines.

  • A Photos column has been added to the QC Check Lines and Posted QC Check Lines pages in Business Central, matching the indicator already present on Quality Control Action Plans, so you can identify at a glance which lines have photos attached without opening each line individually. For more information, see Manage images in quality checks.

  • The Status Management description and the lot inspection status are shown as read-only information on the quality check detail panel in the Aptean Quality Control app. The Status Mgmt. Description row appears in the General section when the Aptean Status Management extension is active and a certified status flow is configured for the QC Check Header table, and the Inspection Status field appears on the lot row when the Aptean Inspection Status extension is installed and the lot has an inspection status assigned. Both are hidden when the relevant extension is not active. For more information, see Manage quality check lines.

  • Multiple recurring quality control triggers can run simultaneously on a single production order routing line, each tracked and scheduled independently against the actual cumulative production time. A new Create First Recurring Check on Start field on the QC Triggers page creates the first quality control check the moment production starts, rather than waiting for the first interval to elapse. The Create First Recurring Check on Start field is editable only when the Recurring Type field is set to Recurring Qty or Recurring Time. The operator view of these checks is provided in the Aptean Shop Floor Production extension.

UI/UX changes

The following UI/UX changes have been made in this release.

  • A + button has been added to the Quality Control App header to create ad-hoc quality control checks directly from the app.
  • Add Reading and Add Question options have been added to the three-dot menu on question lines in the Quality Control App.
  • The Status Mgmt. Description row and the Inspection Status field have been added to the QC check detail panel in the Quality Control App (displayed conditionally based on installed extensions).
  • A Photos column has been added to the QC Check Lines and Posted QC Check Lines pages.
  • The Add Reading and Add Question actions have been added to the QC Check Lines FastTab.
  • The Related Documents action has been added to the QC Check Card and Posted QC Check Card pages.
  • The Quality Control Checks action has been added to the Posted Purchase Invoice and Posted Sales Invoice pages.
  • The Create Customer Non Conformance Document, Create Vendor Non Conformance Document, and Create Internal Non Conformance Document actions have been added to the Posted Quality Control Check page.
  • The Schedule Inventory Quality Checks action has been added to the Quality Control Setup page.
  • The Bin Code and Create First Recurring Check on Start fields have been added to the QC Triggers page.

Resolved issues

The following issues have been resolved in this release.
