Register output

Shop Floor Production  •  Article  •  9/23/2026  •

The Register Output page displays the information of the individual output item on the production order. The left navigation section displays the combined information of all data available for the selected item such as Batching, Location, Bin Code and so on.

Shop Floor Production can post either inventory and capacity for final routing operations or just capacity entries for intermediate operations. The fields available in the registration screen will vary based on operation type and item setup.

  1. In the Item field, select an item from the dropdown if the default item is incorrect. The default item is the one selected on the Outputs screen when clicking + Output. If unplanned output items are set up, each unplanned output item will appear in the item list prefaced by the word "UNPLANNED".
  2. The Lot No. field will only appear for the final routing operation of a production order. The lot number can be entered manually or pre-populated based on the Lot No. Per and Output Lot Preview settings. You can also configure lot number persistence for individual items in the Lot No. Per field on the Replenishment FastTab of the Item Card page. When configured, the item-level setting overrides the global setting on the Shop Floor Production Setup page.
When you select the GENERATE NEW NO. action, the system will generate the lot number as per the setup.
  3. In the License Plate No. field (labeled with the Package Caption value, or Package No. by default, when neither the Aptean License Plating extension is installed nor the Aptean Beverage Advanced Warehouse Management extension is enabled), select or enter a license plate or package identifier.
This field is visible for license plate-tracked items when the Aptean License Plating extension is installed and the associated location and output item are both license plate tracked, for items with the Aptean Beverage Advanced Warehouse Management extension enabled, and for any item with standard Business Central package tracking turned on regardless of location.
The Shipping container and Expiration Date fields are automatically updated based on the selection of lot number.
The Expiration Date field is updated when generating the lot number and the Shipping Container field is updated when generating the license plate number, only if the setup in the default packaging for the output item is correctly defined.

These fields are available only when the Aptean SSCC and Expiration Management extensions are installed.

  4. In the Expiration Date field, enter the expiration date of the output. This field will only appear if the item is lot tracked, uses expiration date, and you are registering output for the final routing operation of the production order. A default value may be set if the Expiration Calculation field on the Item Card is populated or if the lot number matches a previous registration. The system will show an error if you attempt to register a different expiration date for an existing lot number.
  5. In the Shipping Container field, select a shipping container for the output license plate. This field is only visible for the final routing operation and for items that are license plate-tracked.

When the Allow Edit of Output Bin field on the Outputs FastTab of the Shop Floor Production Setup page is turned on, the Bin Code field is a dropdown of all bins at the production order line location, defaulting to the production order line bin code. When the field is turned off, the Bin Code field is read-only and uses the production order line bin code. The selected bin is validated by standard warehouse management validation during posting; if validation fails, an error is displayed and the entered values are preserved for correction.

When the Allow Edit Lot Production Date field on the Shop Floor Production Setup page is turned on, the lot production date field is editable during output registration and uses the caption configured in the Aptean Expiration Management extension. When the field is turned off, the field is hidden. An error is displayed and registration is blocked when the entered date does not match the production date already recorded for the lot.

    • The lot production date is pre-populated when an existing lot is pre-populated — for example, when the Lot No. Per field is set to User Defined.
    • The lot production date can also be edited on the Production Order Details page using the click-to-edit interaction, and is shown as a read-only column on the output listing.
    • When the item uses a lot number profile, changing the lot production date field value automatically regenerates the Lot No. field value and refreshes the Expiration Date field value to match the new date, equivalent to selecting GENERATE NEW NO.. When the Lot No. Per field is set to Production Order, this does not occur once output has already been registered for the production order line.
  6. In the Quantity (UOM) field, enter the quantity of the item you want to register as output. When this registered value differs from the planned value, the differences are represented in the Registered field value with following color code:

    • Grey – Indicates that the registered field value is less than the planned field value.
    • Green- Indicates that the registered field value is equal to the planned field value.
    • Orange - Indicates that the registered field value is greater than the planned field value. The Weight Quantity (UOM) and Tare Weight (UOM) field values are updated based on the Quantity (UOM) field value.

The Tare Weight (UOM) field value is set to 0 by default. You can also enter a non-zero tare weight if required. However, the system displays an error if the Tare weight (UOM) field value is less than 0.

  7. Execute the GET WEIGHT action to update the weight fields. Alternatively, manually enter the weight quantity and tare weight values in the Weight Quantity (UOM) and Tare Weight (UOM) fields directly.
The GET WEIGHT action is available only when the Aptean Weigh Scale extension is installed.

  8. Turn on the Add Scrap Quantity toggle to display the scrap quantity details on the Output page. You can add the scrap quantity in the Scrap Qty. field.

  9. Select the Print Label checkbox to print a label for this output after registration is complete.
This functionality is available only when Aptean Labeling extension is installed and configuration for the labels are done properly. To know more see Print Labels.

  10. In the Comment field, enter the additional information related to the output registered. You can view all comments on the Register Input and Register Output pages from the Shop Floor production Comments list page.

  11. Select Save or Save + New. Selecting Save will register the output and close the page, whereas Save + New will register the output and open a new Register Output page.
