Extensibility

Shop Floor Production is a React-based frontend embedded in Business Central through a control add-in. Because the app renders its own interface, standard Business Central page extension and personalization techniques do not apply to it directly.

Instead, the app exposes a set of AL integration events that allow per-tenant extensions (PTEs) to inject custom data and behavior at runtime. When the app loads a screen, it calls these events to collect any customizations registered by subscribers and renders them dynamically alongside the standard interface.

All customizations are implemented entirely in AL — no JavaScript or React development is required.

Supported extensibility types

Type	Description
Custom actions	Add custom buttons and menu items to the Production Order, Component list, and Output list screens.
Custom columns	Add additional data columns to Shop Floor Production list tables — preferably via list profile columns, which can also be stacked as a secondary or tertiary value on an existing column instead of appended as a new one.
Custom detail information	Add custom input/output summary text and additional comments to the Production Order screen.
Custom form fields	Add custom fields to the Register Input and Register Output screens, and read-only fields to the correction screens.
Default output values	Set default values for standard Register Output fields through AL instead of JavaScript.
Custom consumption scan logic	Define custom barcode validation and field pre-population logic for the Register Input screen.
