View component inputs

To view the component consumption required for a given production order, select the Input Tile on the Production Order Overview screen.

The Inputs screen mainly consists of a single table listing all components on the production order. The component items are grouped according to their flushing method (i.e. Manual vs. Automatic). The following columns are visible on the inputs table:

FieldDescription
DescriptionSpecifies the description of the component item. The item no. is shown below the item description, and an image of the item is shown on the left side of this column if an image is defined for this item.
Bin CodeSpecifies the bin code of the component item.
RemainingSpecifies the quantity of input remaining to be consumed by the production order according to the planned output quantity.
UoMSpecifies the unit of measure in which consumption for the item is registered.
ProgressShows a progress bar indicating what percentage of the consumption has been completed compared to the planned consumption. If batching is enabled for the production order, this value is determined by the number of registered batches.
PlannedSpecifies the quantity of input originally planned based on the production order quantity and the BOM setup.
RegisteredSpecifies the quantity of this input previously registered for this production order.
ActionsShows possible actions users can take regarding the consumption line. For more information, see Consumption Line Actions.

If your production BOM utilizes batch inputs, additional columns are available on the inputs table:

FieldDescription
Remaining BatchesSpecifies the remaining quantity of the item in batch after registering the input. This is the difference between the Planned Batches and Registered Batches field values. When the registered batch value is greater than the planned batch value, the remaining batch field is updated as 0.
Qty. per BatchSpecifies the quantity of the component required per batch. This value is defined in the Input Quantity per Batch field on the Prod. Order Components page associated with the released production order.
Planned BatchesSpecifies the total number of batches originally planned based on the production order quantity. The value is the quantity of the item per batch multiplied by the Quantity field value on the respective production order.
Registered BatchesSpecifies the number of batches which have already been registered on the Input page through the Input action.

If the production order includes co-products without a routing number defined on the co-product line, the co-product's components will appear alongside the main item's components on this screen. If the co-product line has its own routing number, its components will only be accessible from the co-product's own production order entry.

Select an item for consumption by clicking or tapping on the table row in any column except the Actions column. Selecting a row will open up the Register Input screen. The Register Input screen can also be opened selecting the + Input button on the Action Bar.

If the production order status has not been updated to Production on the Production Order Overview screen, attempting to register consumption will yield an error requesting the status of the production order be updated. For more information, see Production Order Overview

Consumption Line Actions

Consumption line actions are actions which can be triggered for individual consumption lines. These actions are represented by an icon in the Actions column.

Correct Consumption

The Correct Consumption action—represented by a pencil icon—opens the Correct Consumption screen. Use this action to reduce quantities previously registered against the production order for that row's item.

If no consumption has been previously registered for a row's item, the Correct Consumption action will be grayed out and unclickable.

Action Bar

The action bar is the top area of the Inputs screen and contains actions applicable to all inputs on the screen.

Header and Back Button

The left-hand side of the action bar includes the back button , the production order number, and the description of the main output item. Selecting the back button will return you to the previous screen.

If you reached the Inputs screen by selecting the Input Tile on the Production Order Overview screen, selecting the back button will return you to that screen. If you reached the Inputs screen by scanning a production order number on the Production Order List screen's search bar, the back button will return you to the list screen.

Batch view toggle

If the production order is set up to utilize batch consumption, turn on the Batch View toggle to switch the table columns between batch quantities and total quantities. If the production order does not use batching, this toggle is hidden.

Enter terms in the search bar to limit the component items shown in the table.

Adding alternative inputs (+ Alternative)

If unplanned consumption is set up for any production order component using the Unplanned Consumption Setup page when the Aptean Process Manufacturing extension is installed, selecting the + Alternative button in Shop Floor Production will open the Add Alternative Item screen.

On the Add Alternative Item screen, first select the component item to be replaced. Then, the Alternative Item field populates with one option per unplanned consumption item. Select the desired unplanned item, then enter the estimated quantity of the unplanned item you plan to consume. Finally, select the Add button to add a new consumption line for the unplanned component item.

For more information on setting up unplanned consumption, see Unplanned output and consumption.

Registering consumption (+ Input)

Select the + Input button to open the Register Input screen. For more information on the registration process, see Register Input.

Consumption by license plate

Shop Floor Production supports registering consumption by scanning an entire license plate or by scanning a GS1 barcode. For more information, see:

When using the Aptean Beverage Advanced Warehouse Management extension, Drink-IT Edition, consumption of license plate-tracked catch weight items is not supported.

Custom scanning (+ Custom Scan)

If a compliant PTE is installed, you can register consumption via barcode scanning and custom parsing logic. Select the + Custom Scan button on the Input page to begin the barcode scanning process. The Register Input screen opens immediately following the barcode scan.

Refresh button

Select the refresh button to query Business Central and update all components on the Inputs screen with the latest data.
