View quality control checks for an order

Checks created from a warehouse or order document keep a reference to the order they trace back to. Business Central deletes a warehouse receipt or warehouse shipment when it is posted, so without this reference the link between a check and the order it inspected would be lost. The Order Document Type and Order No. fields preserve that link, and the actions described below use it to group every check taken against the same order.

Where the order reference comes from

The order reference is resolved when the check is created, from the document that fired the trigger. For checks created from a warehouse receipt or warehouse shipment, the system reads the source order from the warehouse line. For checks created from an order or its posted document, the document itself is used.

General-type checks do not receive an order reference. Neither do Inspection Status or Inventory triggers, which are not tied to an order document.

View the order reference on a check

On the Quality Control Check and Posted Quality Control Check cards, the Order group on the General FastTab shows the following read-only fields.

FieldDescription
Order Document TypeSpecifies the document type of the originating order — for example Purchase Order, Sales Order, or Transfer Order.
Order No.Specifies the number of the originating order, resolved from the trigger document when the check was created.

Both fields are blank when the check has no order reference.

View all checks for the same order

Select the Related QC Checks action on the action bar of the Quality Control Check or Posted Quality Control Check card. The action opens the list of open checks that share the same order. If no open checks remain, it opens the posted checks instead. If the order has no checks at all, a message states that none were found. The action is available only when the check has an order reference.

The Related QC Checks FactBox on the same cards shows the counts directly.

FieldDescription
Open QC ChecksSpecifies the number of open quality control checks for the same originating order. Select the value to open the list.
Posted QC ChecksSpecifies the number of posted quality control checks for the same originating order. Select the value to open the list.

View checks from a posted invoice

Because the order reference survives the warehouse document, the checks remain reachable from the invoice at the end of the process.

  1. Open the Posted Purchase Invoice or Posted Sales Invoice page.
  2. On the action bar, choose Navigate, choose Quality Control, and then choose Quality Control Checks.

The action lists the quality control checks recorded against the order the invoice was created from. For example, to review the incoming inspections behind a vendor invoice before approving it, open the posted purchase invoice and run this action.
