Set up work centers

To register input and output in Shop Floor Production, work centers must be visible. You can specify whether a Work Center should be visible in Shop Floor Production on a per-Work Center basis. When using machine centers, the machine center follows the setting of the linked work center.

Furthermore, only users who have been assigned to a Work Center can access it within the app.

Show work centers in Shop Floor

To enable a work center to be utilized in Shop Floor Production, perform the following: 1. Select the Search icon , enter Work Centers, and then choose the related link.
The Work Centers list page opens. 2. Select the desired No.
The Work Center Card page opens. 3. On the General FastTab, turn on the Show in Shop Floor toggle to make the work center visible in Shop Floor Production.

Set up users per work center

In addition to setting the work center to show in Shop Floor, individual users must also be set up with access to view individual work centers. Without user-level access, even a Shop Floor enabled work center will not be visible.

You can assign a user to a work center directly from the Work Center Card page via the Shop Floor Users action.

  1. Select the Search icon , enter Work Centers, and then choose the related link.
    The Work Centers list page opens.

  2. Select the desired No.
    The Work Center Card page opens.

  3. On the action bar, select Work Center > Shop Floor Users.
    The Shop Floor Users list page for the selected work center opens.
  4. In the User field, enter or select the desired user ID.
    The Work Center No. field is automatically populated with the respective work center.
  5. In the Default Search Behavior Navigation field, select the desired option to override the global default search behavior navigation for this user and work center.
  6. In the Disable Registration Correction field, select the desired option to override for the user and work center the global setting to disable the ability to perform registration corrections.

The user is now set up to utilize this work center in Shop Floor Production. When a work center is deleted, all the users linked to the respective work center also get deleted.

You can view the list of all work centers and assigned users on the Shop Floor Users list page when opened through the tell me function.

Other work center settings

Other settings on the Work Center Card help define that work center's behavior in Shop Floor Production.

  1. On the General FastTab, the value of the Active toggle is inherited based on the Status toggle for this work center on the Work Center List page in Shop Floor Production.
  2. On the Posting FastTab, set the License Plate Consumption Mode option to override the value on the Shop Floor Production Setup page to determine how this work center consumes entire license plates. If this option is blank, the global setup value will be used.

To perform all shop floor operations on a mobile device, a Dynamics 365 Business Central Device license is required. Alternatively, users with a Dynamics 365 Business Central Premium license can also perform the shop floor activities, along with access to the full suite of Business Central functionalities.
