Ad-hoc movement

Ad-Hoc Movement is accessed directly from the Mesh Home screen as a standalone action. It does not require selecting a document from a list. The worker taps the Ad-Hoc Movement button from the hamburger menu, and the system immediately opens the movement workflow.

On opening, the Ad-Hoc Movement screen displays:

  • A step input area for scanning or entering values.
  • An info pane (shown progressively as data is collected) with Location, From Bin, To Bin, Item, Variant, Lot, and Quantity.
  • An Undo button to reverse the last confirmed step.

Processing ad-hoc movement

The following procedure shows how to perform an ad-hoc bin-to-bin inventory movement in Mesh.

  1. Open the Mesh Home screen.
  2. Select the Ad-Hoc Movement button from the home screen.

The system validates your default warehouse location and opens the movement workflow immediately — no document selection is required.

  3. In the Scan From Bin field, scan or select the source bin code. The system presents a list of available outbound bins as suggestions in the side pane.

  4. In the Scan Item field, scan the item barcode or manually enter the item number. If a From Bin was selected, the system validates that the item has stock in that bin.
  5. In the Lot Tracking: Required field, scan or select the lot number (if required). This field appears only for lot-tracked items. The system presents available lots from the selected From Bin as suggestions in the side pane.
  6. In the Select Variant field, select or scan the item variant code (if required). This field appears only if the scanned item has variants. Select No Variant if the item does not require a variant code.
  7. In the Enter Quantity field, enter the quantity to move. The system validates the quantity is a positive number. There is no maximum quantity limit enforced.
  8. In the Scan To Bin field, scan or select the destination bin code. The system presents available inbound bins as suggestions. The To Bin must not be the same as the From Bin. Once the bin is scanned or entered, the movement is posted automatically via the Item Reclassification Journal and the process is completed successfully.

After the To Bin is confirmed, the system immediately posts the movement. No additional confirmation step is required. The system displays a notification message with the bin, item, and quantity information. The movement is immediately reflected in inventory ledger entries in Business Central.

Scan GS1-compliant barcodes

You can scan GS1-compliant barcodes containing item, lot, and variant information to automatically populate multiple workflow fields during Ad-Hoc Movement. The system resolves the item, lot number, and bin information from the barcode and automatically advances through the corresponding workflow steps.

  1. Open the Ad-Hoc Movement screen in Mesh.
  2. Scan the GS1-compliant barcode containing the relevant fields.

The Ad-Hoc Movement is posted, and the system creates the corresponding entries.
