Integration with Aptean Mobile Warehouse Registration

When the Aptean Packaging extension is used in conjunction with the Aptean Mobile Warehouse Registration extension, the system automatically updates Order Bound Shipping Container packaging transactions using the Shipping Container recorded on the License Plate header. This removes the need to enter the Qty. to Post manually on the Packaging page for License Plates processed through the mobile device.

Prerequisites

The integration applies only when all the following conditions are met:

  • The Packaging Type is set to Order Bound and the Packaging Calculation Method is set to Manual.
  • On the Register Packaging Setup page, the Inbound Transactions checkbox is selected and the Inbound - Order Bound checkbox is cleared for inbound transactions. For outbound transactions, the Outbound Transactions checkbox is selected and the Outbound - Order Bound checkbox is cleared. For more information, see Register packaging setup.
  • The item is License Plate-tracked, and the Require License Plate Tracking checkbox is selected for the location.
  • The Shipping Container recorded on the License Plate header is not set up as Item Bound on the Default Item Packaging page. For more information, see Default and Mandatory Packaging.

Locations set up for inventory picks or inventory put-aways are not supported.

Inbound transactions

The integration supports purchase receipts, inbound transfer receipts, and sales return receipts registered through Mobile Warehouse Registration at locations that use warehouse management.

When Transfer Scan Data is run after a warehouse receipt is registered on the mobile device, the system updates the Qty. to Post of the Order Bound Shipping Container packaging transaction for the Shipping Container recorded on each received License Plate header. The Qty. to Post is calculated from the received quantity of the License Plate-tracked lines that carry the Shipping Container, not from the Default Item Packaging setup.

If several received License Plates carry the same Shipping Container, their quantities are combined into one packaging transaction. Different Shipping Containers are updated separately.

Only the lines handled on the mobile device update the packaging transaction. If a document contains both License Plate-tracked and lot-tracked lines, only the License Plate-tracked lines update the packaging transaction.

Outbound transactions

Outbound integration applies to warehouse management locations where Require Pick is turned on and Require Shipment is turned on. The Shipping Container recorded on the picked License Plate header is used to update the Order Bound Shipping Container packaging transaction. The Qty. to Post is the number of picked License Plates that carry that Shipping Container.

When the packaging transaction is updated depends on how the pick is created:

  • Existing pick: When the pick was created beforehand and the user scans the pick lines on the mobile device, the packaging transaction is updated when Transfer Scan Data is run in Business Central.

Shipping Container for Pick License Plates

Mobile Warehouse Registration creates a Pick License Plate when a partial quantity is split from an existing License Plate during a warehouse pick. The Shipping Container assigned to the Pick License Plate depends on the Default Shipping Container Pick LP field on the License Plating Setup page:

  • If the Outbound - Order Bound checkbox is cleared, the user is prompted to scan or enter the Shipping Container code on the mobile device, regardless of whether a default value is set. The prompt shows even if only one Shipping Container is valid for the item.
  • If the Outbound - Order Bound checkbox is selected, the prompt is skipped, and the default Shipping Container behavior applies.

The system validates the entered code against the Shipping Container packaging codes and displays an error if the code is not valid. A valid code is saved on the Pick License Plate header and is used to update the packaging transaction when Transfer Scan Data is run.

If the Outbound - Order Bound checkbox is selected, the prompt is skipped and the default Shipping Container behavior applies.

Shipping Units and lot-tracked items

The integration updates Shipping Containers only. Shipping Units continue to be calculated from the Default Item Packaging setup. Lot-tracked items continue to use the standard packaging calculation.
