Register consumption through GS1 barcodes

The shop floor production application integrates with the Aptean Standard Measurements to support consumption registration via GS1-compliant barcodes.

Setup

To set up GS1 consumption in shop floor production, follow these steps:

1. Open the Standard Measurements Setup page.
2. Enter your environment unit of measure code representing Pound in the GS1 LB (32/34) Unit of Measure field.
3. Enter your environment unit of measure code representing Kilogram in the GS1 KG (31/33) Unit of Measure field.
   Ensure the remaining fields on the Standard Measurements Setup page are completed according to your company’s procedure. For more information, see Setup Standard Measurements.
4. On the Shop Floor Production Setup page, in the License Plate Consumption Mode field, select Expect GS1.
5. On the Item Card page, select the Item References action.

6. Add a new record with the following data:

   Field	Value
   Reference Type	Bar Code
   Reference No.	14-character GTIN

   Any extra variants or units of measure for the same item should have separate item reference records.

To register consumption, follow these steps:

1. Open the Shop Floor Production page and select the work center and production order you want to process.
2. Once the production order has started, select the Input tile to begin registering for consumption.
3. Select the +GS1 button.
4. Scan a license plate number or GS1-compliant barcode.
5. If prompted, scan additional information required by the system.
6. Complete the registration by selecting Save on the Input Registration page.

For example, the following has been set up:

An item has also been set up with an Item Reference GTIN of 00348086228667.

On the Shop Floor Production page, the following scans open the Register Input page with pre-loaded information. In these scans, application identifiers are indicated using a different font color.

Scan 1

The system automatically selects the item and pre-populates LOTABC in the Lot No. Consumption field. Because the Default GS1 Quantity field value is set to 1 and the GS1 scan does not provide a quantity, the system also pre-populates the Quantity field value with 1.

Scan 2

The system automatically selects the item and pre-populates LOTABC in the Lot No. Consumption field. Because the barcode scan specifies a quantity, the system pre-populates the Quantity field value with *15.

If the lot number is not positioned at the end of the barcode, a special non-readable character is required to indicate the end of the lot number. This character is the Group Separator (ASCII 29).

Scan 3

For catch weight items, the system automatically selects the item and pre-populates LOTABC. The system pre-populates the Quantity field with 15 and the Weight Quantity field with 10.5 KG. If the barcode scan provides the weight in pounds, the system converts the weight to the catch weight unit of measure before populating it on the input screen.
