Aptean E-Commerce  •  Release Note  •  7/22/2026  •

Features

With the features added in this release of the Aptean E-Commerce extension,

  • Sales orders created from the e-commerce checkout flow can be automatically released in Business Central, eliminating manual intervention and accelerating order-to-fulfillment cycles. When the Auto Release Ecom Orders toggle is turned on in the E-commerce Setup page, orders are released immediately after checkout using the standard Business Central release functionality. When release fails due to a blocked customer, inventory issue, or other validation error, the order remains in Open status and a notification email is sent to the address in the Admin Email field (if configured). When a released order is subsequently modified through the e-commerce portal, the order is automatically reopened, modified, and re-released. Release failures are not visible to customers — a normal order confirmation is presented regardless of release outcome. For more information, see Set up e-commerce.

  • The last date on which a customer ordered each item is displayed on the customer profile catalog in the e-commerce portal, helping customers identify their regular items and make informed reordering decisions. The feature is controlled by the Show Last Order Date toggle on the E-commerce Setup page. When turned on, each item on the profile catalog displays Last ordered: [date] based on open sales orders and posted sales history, at the item, variant, and unit of measure level. When turned off, no date information is shown and no additional lookups are performed. For more information, see Set up e-commerce.

  • The e-commerce AI assistant can now answer questions about past and current orders, including the last time a specific item was ordered, order history within a specified date range (up to six months), details of a specific order or invoice by number, and which items are currently on order. For more information, see E-Commerce AI assistant.

  • A free-text Comments field is available on the e-commerce checkout page, allowing customers to enter special instructions or notes of up to 500 characters with their order. Comments are stored in Business Central as Sales Comment Lines associated with the sales order, and are visible in order and invoice history views in the e-commerce portal. When the Aptean Advanced Comments extension is installed, checkout comments are automatically configured to print on order confirmations and can optionally be configured to print on delivery notes using the Print Checkout Comments on Delivery Note toggle on the E-commerce Setup page. For more information, see Review and finalize your order and Set up e-commerce.

  • The Entra Application Setup action on the E-commerce Setup page automates the creation of the required Microsoft Entra Application record in Business Central and the assignment of all applicable permission sets to its virtual user account, replacing a manual multi-step process. For more information, see Set up e-commerce.
