Production Scheduling  •  Release Note  •  1/28/2026  •

Features

With the features added in this release of the Aptean Production Scheduling extension,

  • You can use the Graphical Scheduler page to plan and view operations with the correct configuration, using default filters and time scale settings.
  • You can visualize production order schedules in an interactive Gantt chart embedded in Business Central, enabling planners to review operations over time and identify scheduling constraints.

For more information, see Graphical scheduler.

  • You can set up user personalization to store your preferred filters, time scale level, and default view so the scheduler opens with your preferred settings. For more information, see Set up graphical scheduler personalizations.
  • You can use draft schedules to plan changes without immediately committing them to production data. For more information, see Work with drafts.
  • You can publish draft changes with conflict handling, allowing you to manage conflicts that occur when other users have modified the same records before publishing. For more information, see Publish drafts with conflict handling.

  • You can configure global scheduler views (shared across users) to control how the scheduler is displayed, including default time scale levels, date range modes (absolute or relative), row height, fonts, icons, and color templates. For more information, see Set up graphical scheduler view.

  • You can adjust the schedule using drag-and-drop rescheduling in the Gantt chart and receive validation feedback when changes cause conflicts or warnings, including overlap checks and due date/dependency warnings. For more information, see Drag and drop.

  • You can move tasks on the Graphical Scheduler page to reschedule operations. When you move a task, the system validates the change and updates the task in the Gantt chart. For more information, see Graphical scheduler operations.
  • You can lock or unlock tasks from the Graphical Scheduler page, and the change is stored as a draft change that is applied when the draft is published. For more information, see Lock or unlock operations.

  • You can manage downtime and absences directly from the scheduler to reflect current resource availability. For more information, see Add downtime and Add absence.
  • The system validates task moves against non-working time and absence periods. If the new start time falls within a non-working or absence period, the scheduler shows an error message and the task is returned to its previous position. For more information, see Validate non-working time and absence when rescheduling.

  • You can review and respond to material shortage warnings during scheduling. The scheduler flags operations with component shortages and lets you view shortage information. For more information, see Review material shortages.

  • You can change the production scenario for the selected task directly from the Graphical Scheduler page. The system applies the scenario change for the related production order line and reloads the scheduler to reflect updated routing and schedule data. For more information, see Change production scenario.
  • You can open the link tree view from the scheduler for the selected production order or task, improving visibility of upstream and downstream dependencies when the Aptean Production Order Linkage extension is installed. For more information, see Show link tree.
  • You receive a changeover warning when moving tasks if the new sequence introduces additional changeover time based on sequencing attributes and item-to-item changes. For more information, see Review changeover warnings when rescheduling.

  • You can display utilization indicators (when enabled in the active view) to help planners evaluate load versus capacity for the selected period and identify overloaded resources. For more information, see Utilization indicators.
  • You can use integrated actions in the scheduler to support planning workflows, such as opening related records, viewing work center load, and exporting or printing the schedule. For more information, see Use scheduler ribbon actions.
