Understand consignment costs

Grower Return  •  Article  •  4/22/2026  •

The Costs action on the Consignment page shows cost lines linked to a consignment line. Each record represents a cost entry derived from a cost template and is identified by a combination of trade plan and item charge. The page shows costs across three value types: Expected (planned costs), Actual (invoiced or posted costs), and Consignment (the value used to determine the cost for the consignment based on the Cost Application Method field value).

If a cost template is defined in the Consignment Cost Template field on the Grower Return Setup page, the system considers only those item charges and trade plans when creating consignment cost lines.

If no template is defined, the system shows all item charges and trade plans posted to the item ledger entries in the consignment trace.

For more information, see Set up grower returns.
